SXSW 2020
Consulting as Craft: Design & Business at Scale
Description:
"So, what would you say you do heeeerre?" Office Space may be so 1999, but I've been answering that question for 5 years now. And if you're an [insert specialty] designer working in a consulting firm, or even in-house, I bet you're no stranger to that conversation either. But what do we really do in these days when the titans of consulting are marrying the darlings of the marketing world, bunking up with design firms of all manner, and everyone is building their own innovation teams? We consult. And consulting is a craft. It may be one of the most difficult to master. When I joined Accenture 5 years ago, it was to sit at the intersection of design and business. After 5 years, I'll share what I've learned, some hard won and lost battles, and offer my own ranging thoughts on what lies ahead.
