Exposing Sexual Abuse: The Healer John of God
Description:
This panel will bring the investigative process of exposing sexual abuses made by the internacional healer known as John of God. He was exposed by the late night TV show "Conversa com Bial", hosted at Globo TV, a network that reaches 100 million people per day. Five days after the show was aired, in December of 2018, he was arrested and is waiting for trial. Zahira was the first to come foward with her story. Her courage inspired more than 500 women to share their stories with the authorities. Victims have been as young as 8 up until 67 years of age. Pedro and Camila are the journalists who investigated and gave voice to victmans. The panel will discuss how he managed to command a city, its local commerce and a powerfull healing structure and mind manipulation for sexual abuse.
