SXSW 2020
AI & Journalism: What Jobs & Skill Will Survive?
Description:
From self-driving cars to customer service, artificial intelligence has already shown great promise to transform the daily lives of billions. Some even argue that AI and Machine Learning hold the promise to make journalism financially viable by eliminating grunt work and enabling a group of 5 to do the work of 50. But despite the potential to radically decrease the cost of news publishing, many fear that AI could take jobs from already shrinking newsrooms. In this panel we’ll discuss whether AI will replace journalists or radically improve productivity, as well as what media and journalistic skills will be relevant, and which will disappear.
