SXSW 2020
Reversing Diabetes with Continuous Remote Care
Description:
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is one of the biggest global health challenges of the 21st century. Half of US adults have T2D or prediabetes, costing $400 billion per year. T2D is assumed to be chronic and irreversible, but diabetes reversal, and reducing or completely stopping diabetes medication, are the goals of the Virta Treatment, a physician-supervised medical nutrition therapy where patients get near on-demand care, wherever they are, to help return to a diabetes-free life. Using Virta’s novel, tech-enabled, continuous remote care platform, Virta Health Medical Director Dr. Jeff Stanley helps patients follow Virta’s individualized nutrition therapy to safely and sustainably reverse type 2 diabetes. Virta’s approach and transformational outcomes are reshaping how we think of chronic disease.
