SXSW EDU 2020

Digital Agency: Algorithmic Bias and Dark Patterns

Description:

Before young people can affect change in digital ecosystems, they must understand how those spaces are constructed. This session will present curriculum designed to empower students on the topic of tech and ethics, and the presenters will outline the whys/hows of teaching students about algorithms and the perpetuation of bias, and the role that dark design plays in the creation of digital platforms. The session will also focus on topics of diversity in STEM, student empowerment, and HCD.
