SXSW EDU 2020
Melanated Social Work: Healing in Living Color
Description:
In a white female dominated field, men of color working as social workers (SW) is scarce. The majority of SW are white women, so what does this mean for men of color working in the field? From sometimes being the only man of color in an MSW program, to navigating racist systems while helping clients of color, being a man of color in this field has unique challenges. The men of Melanated Social Work hope to use their voices to start a movement of change in the field and in communities of color.
