SXSW 2020
The United States of Cannabis
Description:
This session will focus on the latest progress on both medical and recreational cannabis legalization efforts, how ballot initiatives and legislative efforts can accomplish the goal of ending cannabis prohibition at the state level, what it takes for these efforts to be successful, and what lessons we have learned over the organization’s 25 year history.
We will also examine MPP’s success in leading the effort to legalize cannabis in Illinois and how this shapes the future of legalization efforts. To wrap the session up, we will discuss where MPP and other cannabis advocacy groups will be focusing resources in 2020 and how the increasing progress at the state level will ultimately force Congress to take action in 2021, if not sooner.
