SXSW 2020
How Improving the Way We Vote Can Improve Politics
Description:
Ask anyone you know, and they will tell you that our elections are awful. Voters feel forced to choose between the lesser-of-two-evils, polarizing candidates end up winning, and important issues don't get resolved because of increasing hyper-partisanship and gridlock. But it doesn't have to be this way. One simple change to the way we vote - allowing voters to vote for as many candidates as they want - can return power to the voters, result in winning candidates who have a broad base of support, and decrease political polarization. With a better voting method, our government can run more smoothly and we can all be more satisfied with the outcomes of our elections.
