at Fjord we’ve been designing centaur systems for policing, healthcare and industry. Through a combination of micro-lectures, hands-on activities and practical guidelines we will introduce practices that increase the adoption and resilience of AI powered products and services. We kick off with the AI Creative Matrix, a technique to inspire ideation around new AI driven products and services. Then, using your initial concepts you’ll define the human/AI relationship as part of an overall cognitive system, exploring issues like autonomy, responsibility and problem complexity. Finally, by considering AI as a teammate we provide guidelines for refining the interaction between human and artificial agents.
Additional Supporting Materials
- AI is complex, but designers should focus on what it can do, rather than the details of how it works. This is the key to open ideation.
- Designing for AI requires a systems thinking approach. Adoption and resilience depends on planning for unforeseen events.
- The future of interaction design is between humans and AI. Some of our future colleagues will be machines.
