SXSW 2019
Make Your Own Influencers
Description:
Influencer support is as big in the advocacy space as it is for consumer brands. It’s not uncommon to see a leading celeb, Instagram influencer, or YouTuber as the face of a new campaign or platform. However, in an era in which consumers are hyper-aware of authenticity, is the influencer model not just overdone, but possibly counterproductive?
Aaron Harvey, founder of the mental health advocacy platforms IntrusiveThoughts.org and Made of Millions, will speak to the importance of uplifting everyday people when looking to make an impact. He’ll talk about Made of Millions mission to inspire grassroots change by giving local advocates the chance to spread their message, and where the “influencer” model is headed within the nonprofit space.
