Natural Stupidity Eats A.I. Strategy for Breakfast
Description:
In US, average time spent on work commute is 52 mins per day. Autonomous self-driving cars, expected to hit the road soon and could make our mean streets safer and more efficient. This is possible when every single car in the road is autonomous. Currently A.I. driven cars have to deal with natural stupidity (N.S.) and lack of empathy. How do you feel when you get stuck behind a freight train crossing or you are stuck in traffic and a 2 wheeler driving between lanes? Road rages are growing. Research shows that driving was a potent source of autonomy, pleasure and self-expression among motorists. 48% of drivers don't signal to change lanes. Socioeconomic and community characteristics like eating traffic wave by tandem trucks are another example of driving behavior. Will A.I. triumph N.S.?

Takeaways
- Artificial Intelligence is powerful but do not underestimate the consequences of natural stupidity. Autonomous car companies need more phycologist
- 48% of drivers don't signal to change lanes. How we can apply learnings around human behavior and empathy to be better driver in chaotic traffic?
- To improve safety and usability of vehicles, users will have to sacrifice some control. How do we balance this?
