“It’s Not Me, It’s You”: On Investor Rejection

Description:

“Learn to cope with rejection.”
^It’s the advice everyone offers a would-be entrepreneur. And boy are they right.

Today I’m CTO & Founder of a global company that’s secured $86 million in funding. But in 2012, I was just a guy with a laptop and the cloud. And I got rejected by investors. Lots of them.

In this session, I’ll confront one.

We’ll talk about why they passed, what I could have done differently, and what to learn from my (many, many) mistakes. Here’s a hint: Kickstarting a business is as much about how you pitch the idea as it is about the core technology (in my case, a software platform that accelerates business transformation in the cloud).

Join us as we reflect, talk lessons learned, field questions from the audience…and reveal how we REALLY feel about each other.

  2. What are the strategies that make an entrepreneur successful when trying to secure early-stage funding, and what are the pitfalls they should avoid?
  3. How do you know when you’re ready to raise venture capital investment, and what are the best practices for messaging to a VC audience?
