SXSW 2019

The Strange Ethics of the Future

Description:

Will your autonomous car save a pedestrian, or you? Do you have a right to the privacy of your emotions? Will you be interviewed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) with unconscious bias built-in? The Fourth Industrial Revolution is happening. The convergence of technology, disruptive business models and industries at an unprecedented pace means this rapidly changing mix will produce unforeseen and unfamiliar challenges. AI, drones, autonomous weapons, 3D printing, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and more are shattering conventional ideas of what is ‘normal’. As technology advances at an ever-increasing pace, regulation is also trying to keep up. Let’s discuss some of the provocative realities emerging to increase awareness for all on just how strange the ethics of the future will be.
