SXSW 2019
Women Should Keep Silent in Churches. Amen???
Description:
What happens when three women - an Episcopal priest, an American Baptist minister and an Evangelical Lutheran pastor - walk into a room? Often, they get bullied, jeered and protested. The landscape for women serving as church leaders is very young in church history and lacks consensus. Only since the 1970’s have Lutherans and Episcopalians allowed the ordination of women. Many denominations still do not. This isn't a doom and gloom conversation. To the contrary, because of the challenges, women and others are finding support in unexpected ways through the church. Join us for a lively but respectful discussion on the role of women and historically disenfranchised groups in the the church.
