SXSW 2019

Chasing Kaizen: Future-Focused Product Management

Description:

Kaizen is an approach to continuous improvement. The Japanese word translates to mean "good change." Consistent “good change” is hard - and often feels impossible. Like an infinite scroll, kaizen is never-ending. And, like Olympians in the 100-meter dash, its goal is perpetual optimization. Today’s glory is tomorrow’s old news.

Product management is a craft. At its best, it proactively serves users — anticipating needs, wants and churn tendencies. But at its worst, it produces nonsolutions no one loves. The good news is, there’s always room for improvement.

Esteban Contreras is VP of Product at HYP3R, a location-based marketing SaaS platform serving enterprise clients. He will take us on a journey of the principles he's embraced through the ups and downs of his pursuit of kaizen.
