SXSW 2019
Diversifying the Plant-Based Eating Culture
Description:
The majority of people across all age groups want healthier food options. Half of the Top 10 2017 VC mega deals were alternative protein companies. People are interested in eating fewer animal by-products, but don’t necessarily want to give up their cultural foods, favorite umami flavors, or nostalgia from past experiences. By bringing together leaders in food tech, snack foods, and alternative proteins and dairy, audience members will see the vast potential of plant-based eating. We will explore the health and life quality benefits of plant-based foods, the simultaneous environmental impact and food waste elimination opportunities, and how accessible plant-based foods can be. Trying to feed 9 billion people by 2050 will be challenging, but plant-based makes it easier.
