SXSW 2019
Rethinking Healthcare with Shared-Decision Making
Description:
A significant medical diagnosis is a terrifying experience for a patient, and subsequent treatment choices are complex, with profound financial and quality of life implications. Shared decision-making is the process of interacting with patients who wish to be involved in arriving at an informed, values-based choice among treatment alternatives. It stimulates collaborative discussion between physicians and patients in order to better align the pursued outcomes with the patient’s individual preferences and values of the patient.
