SXSW 2019

Revolt, Regroup, Rebuild: Community at Scale

Description:

Workplace communities are places where people of common interests can get together to share knowledge, develop empathy, and grow their skills. At IBM, we discovered the need for a front-end developer community when the needs of developers who were working on UI were not being met. In order for this effort to thrive, we also saw the need to scale and grow this front-end developer community to not just hundreds but thousands of developers across the globe. In this talk, Kelly and Jessica will tell the story of how we created the FED@IBM community (revolt!), how we are restlessly re-inventing ourselves (regroup!), and how we are sustaining and scaling the community by leveraging our company's thought leaders (rebuild!)
