Creating a Highly Skilled and Diverse Workforce

Companies need to develop a skilled and diverse workforce, but many struggle with accessing well-prepared talent. Forward-thinking companies including Capital One, Verizon, Lenovo, Marriott, Optum, and others do this by engaging employees and high school students. Employees host job shadows, worksite tours, mock interviews, and paid internships in order to expose underserved students to a wide variety of careers. The problem? There’s a disconnect between the education and business worlds and not many companies know how to best approach building their talent pipeline in high school.
