Emotions: The Gatekeepers to Learning
Description:
Neuroscience demonstrates that emotions are vital to learning. Many teachers, however, are not trained to consider students' emotional states when designing and implementing instruction. This session will describe how emotions can either help or hinder the learning process, highlight best practices for supporting students with mental health concerns, and introduce the Universal Design for Learning framework to assist with designing instruction that leverages emotions for deeper learning.
