SXSW 2019
Radically Better Mentoring: Giving Women a Chance
Description:
Women earn 60% of undergraduate and master’s degrees, and yet, there are more CEOs named John than there are women. The lack of top level female representation leaves many aspiring young women without role-models, and critically, access to mentors in the workplace. Furthermore, 90% of mentors find the experience highly frustrating. We bring together the founder of Ceresa, an international women’s mentorship organization, as well as successful female mentors and mentees to explore radically better mentorship. We’ll discuss why mentoring is so important yet fundamentally broken for aspiring women leaders. We’ll also cover how to find mentorship opportunities, the importance of mentees’ preparation, and how to build truly impactful and joyful mentoring experiences.
