Critical entertainment: beyond educational games
Educational games and gamification have been preached as ‘holy grails’ when it comes to foster student’s engagement, especially in subjects which are otherwise considered uninteresting or hard to approach.
Nonetheless, why is it still rare to find improvements in learning metrics among current game-based learning experiences?
This talk will critically analyze implementation scenarios for educational games and propose a new framework to understand how playfulness can amplify learning.
