SXSW 2017

Mental Health and Self Care for Creatives

In my session I would like to bring together musicians/artists who have raised awareness about mental health issues either explicitly through conversations/interviews or in the content of their music. Recently publications like the LA Times and VICE have highlighted different artists, particularly in the world of hip hop, who are embracing open dialogue about a variety of mental health concerns. This panel would seek to address the unique kinds of constraints that artists might feel in discussing these issues, as well as some of the interesting approaches that artists have taken to share the details of their mental health issues.
