Getting it Right: IoT and the User Experience

Beacons, sensors, wearables, and other 'things' are reaching out to connect and exchange information; building blocks of the emerging IoT. It is imperative that we merge our inherent senses into these new 'sensing' environments: vision, touch, hearing and speech to create seamless, natural, human experiences. To do this, product owners, designers, and developers will need to think beyond individual devices to how we can orchestrate the user experience across all of these technologies. In this session, Tom Wesselman, Director, Ecosystem Architecture for Plantronics, will outline this opportunity, focusing on the need for the UX to adapt appropriately as new sensing environments come on line.

  1. Why is the UX of such vital importance as we build-out the emerging IoT ecosystem?
  2. What will it take to achieve a natural, seamless, human UX within sensing environments?
  3. What are some of the ways that developers can address this complex challenge?
