False Alarm: Periscope Really Helps Rights Holders

New mobile live-streaming technologies, such as Periscope and Meerkat, have launched, offering anyone with a cell phone the ability to live stream events. But contrary to popular belief, these mobile apps are not a threat to sports rights holders, the same way YouTube is not. Production quality still reigns supreme when it comes to sports, and rights holders are best served spending time learning how to harness these new technologies - whether it's to drive tune-in or awareness - vs. fighting the inevitable growth/adoption.
