Fractions! Fractions! Learn All About ‘Em
As we look at the next generation of education for our students, we also have to look at the next generation of development for our teachers. In this session, we dive into an innovative professional development structure that increases teachers' pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics while supporting its application in the classroom. Attendees will experience a research-based instructional sequence on fraction concepts designed to improve teachers’ content knowledge, instructional practices, and student engagement. Participants will learn the research behind CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) and how it can be incorporated to increase understanding.
