URL's Are Apps
The web has been the frictionless content distribution platform for a long time. No stores, no gates, just nothing but your browser and a url. It's beautiful. App stores were made popular by Apple, charging money often before a user can have access to certain content. Ever tried sharing an app with a friend? 5 minutes later they are in and enjoying the content. Ever tried sharing a url with a friend? Yeah, easy. This ease has been recently extended into beacons and the internet of things, and it's aptly named The Physical Web. Where a physical space, or physical object, has a url. Your web content ready to be present in the physical world.
