Beyond Words: Images as Language

There has never been a time where people are more comfortable with communicating through images. Whether it’s images they create or images they source, we live in an age where people are in control of curating the gallery of their lives. Looking at an individual’s – or a brand’s Instagram or Pinterest – can give you a perfect sense of what they’re passionate about and what they stand for. Creating surreal avatars, sending gif and memes directly to friends, represent a trend in how our audience is communicating with one another. There is potentially a huge opportunity for ourselves, Refinery29, as our own brand, and for our brand partners, to come along for the ride offline and online.
