SXSW Interactive 2016
The Art of the Own - Internet Etiquette and Sports
Chris Kluwe, PFTCommenter, and Lana Berry will discuss online interactions between fans, athletes, and journalists, with a focus on the difference between "punching up" (highlighting someone's poor behavior to encourage better behavior) vs. "punching down" (harassing someone simply because you're in a position to do so and feel there won't be any consequences), as well as harassment people receive online (especially women) and what you can do about it. The past year of Gamergate related idiocy should be reason enough to have this discussion.
