Open Edtech: Can K-12 Learn from Higher Ed?
Open standards, open architectures, open educational resources (OER) and open source software have contributed to a more open EdTech ecosystem in higher education than currently exists in K-12. Can K-12 learn from the higher ed experience? Does an open, standards-based EdTech ecosystem mean a "better ecosystem"? Our panel of experts will take a deep dive into these and other topics to identify and explore the ways that the fast-growing K-12 ecosystem can benefit from those that have come before.

- Attendees will understand EdTech standards, why they exist, which standards are the most popular, and how the adoption of such standards has helped to create a more open EdTech ecosystem in Higher Ed.
- Attendees will apply the ideas and lessons from EdTech in Higher Ed to the ecosystem that exists in K-12 to identify ways that these standards and creating an open ecosystem can help create a better experience for teachers and learners.
- Attendees will identify ways that they can impact the ecosystem to create and/or advocate for the standards that will provide them with the optimal experience.
