Welcome To Your New Brain: Lessons From Concussion
We all have deficits that we are trying to overcome. Some don’t think they are smart enough, or don’t feel confident about the path they have chosen. Some worry about rejection of their ideas or decisions.
I lived with some mental blocks and deficits like these, as we all do. Yet I was able to find success in our economy. I had a PhD in Economics and worked on sustainability policy at a Washington DC think tank.
Then I received a concussion in a minor car accident. My brain was rattled around inside my head and I’ve never been the same since.
In my journey of recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury I had to learn about how my brain works, its ability to change and how to overcome cognitive deficits and adversity.
The lessons I learned and tools I used are useful even for those without an injury. In fact, I wish I had them before my injury. And the system for recovery that I encountered is one that is rife for intervention and improvement.
