SXSW Music 2013
Music 3.0: Constructive Disruption for Music Biz
Music 3.0 at SXSW will feature presentations from thought-leaders and makers in other fields about how they've adopted and developed their business and what lessons they have for a music industry sorely in need of fresh sparks and new processes
After the record industry (music 1.0) and the live music industry (music 2.0), it’s time for innovation (music 3.0) and constructively disrupting how the music industry operates. It's time to open up the shop and see what unvested interests and outside influences can bring to the table.
In May 2012, Angela Dorgan, Finian Murphy and Jim Carroll organised the Music 3.0 conference in Dublin, Ireland, with 24 speakers from non-music sectors talking about how they have responded to new ideas, creativity, innovation and disruption. Our aim was to show how fresh ideas in other areas could be used by the music industry. Aside from presentations, the conference also featured a workshop where new ideas were tested and business-proofed.
