Academic Research Collectives- CM@UIW
In the 21st Century we are in a post information age.
Working at a teaching based university but coming from a tier 1 research institution I felt the need to merge the two spaces.
This panel will discuss the merging of a teaching based university's philosophy that incorporates tier 1 research methods.
However, the panel will go one step further and discuss how when merged with community service and activism truly transformation experiences for all participants can take place.
Using the San Antonio, Tx based Convergent Media Collective's experiences working with the County, City, NonProfits, ForProfits and EDU's, collective participants will give real world explanations on how to truly engage students, teachers and community in research and project based learning.
So pick us for a panel to hear our experiences about creating such a collective and learn about how theory and practice can transform the academic experience.
