SXSW 2024
Shut the f*** up about ChatGPT and get back to work
Description:
Everyone and their mom is talking about ChatGPT. Paranoia spreads with little understanding of how the technology works. Sci-fi foreshadows a future where AI takes over the world, imbued with doom and gloom. Like fears of the horseless carriage and mechanized looms of yore, AI may eliminate certain jobs, but new opportunities will arise. Since OpenAI released ChatGPT in November 2022, the BLS reports consistent job growth, averaging 273k new monthly jobs. ChatGPT hasn't taken everyone's job yet! This talk will assuage the fears of the Luddites and bring reality back to the topic of AI.
