Does the Emperor Have Clothes? Unveiling the Truth of CSEd PD

Description:

Professional development (PD) has been a priority strategy for computer science (CS) initiatives focused on equitable access. Despite decades of motion to expand K-12 access to CS and improve instructional quality, the field has not delivered meaningful progress. Most students from marginalized groups remain shut out of high quality CS educational opportunities. UCLA and the Kapor Center evaluated the outcomes of a statewide professional learning grant that reached over 800 CS educators (teachers, principals, counselors). Join us for real talk on the results and remixing the field’s approach.
