SXSW 2024
Rebooting Social Media
Description:
Social media platforms are currently built and operated to treat the public interest as a secondary concern at best. The result is technology that often hurts user privacy, restricts data portability, and resists effective content moderation. We believe that better alternatives must exist. So where do we go from here? Harvard University’s Institute for Rebooting Social Media (RSM) proposes a panel to bring together government, academia, and both big and start up tech experts focused on rebuilding a better social media, considering the injustices and harms caused through current platforms.
