SXSW 2024
Why Bitcoin Matters for Human Rights
Description:
Roughly 4.3 billion people live under authoritarian regimes. Human rights defenders trying to make a difference watch as their bank accounts are frozen and their access to financial services is severed by authoritarian regimes looking to neutralize opposition. This session will feature a diverse discussion between human rights defenders, humanitarians, and entrepreneurs as they dive into how Bitcoin is currently being used as a technology of escape and liberation. This session will be action-oriented and will cover, among other topics, how people are logistically doing this across the world.
