SXSW 2024
Community-led Mental Health in the Performing Arts Industry
Description:
Performing artists deeply enrich society's cultural fabric yet often face unique stressors and barriers to mental health. What if equipping the arts community to provide frontline mental health support to one another could begin to bridge the gap? A growing evidence base for community-based mental health strategies is emerging globally. Bringing together an intersection of scholars, community organizations and artists, this panel will explore steps toward transforming artists’ occupational and lived experiences while building resilient, safe and inclusive grounds for art creation.
