SXSW 2023

Creative Industries and Mental Health: Let’s Talk

Description:

Mental health is at the forefront of social discourse. From the impacts of social media to employee burnout, to increased awareness of mental illness, no one is blind to its importance. And with conversations spanning from TikTok to congress, it begs the question: do we really know what we’re talking about? And if you’re one of many who don’t feel equipped to discuss it in the workplace, what do you do? To add to this, industries relying on creative talent have a particular responsibility. Yet in a 2021 survey by The Drum, 95% of respondents said their workload had impacted their mental health. TBWA’s 2022 study on The Future of Creative Work saw that creatives are more likely to experience workplace burnout. Let’s talk about systemic support for mental health, and creating lasting change.
