SXSW 2023
STEM Education: Giving Every Child Their Moonshot
Description:
The diversity of students pursuing STEM-related careers does not reflect the changing demographics of our country. China’s STEM graduates outnumber the U.S. by almost 900% creating a national security threat. Addressing our growing tech dependence plus a shortage of STEM talent is a priority of the Intelligence Community.
A new approach is underway in the Western HQ of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Trusted community leaders are working with NGA to create a comprehensive K-12 pipeline stimulating early STEM interest in underrepresented communities. This pilot program, built to scale across the U.S., comprehensively supports the success of students and their families giving every child the opportunity to prosper in the STEM economy while leveling the playing field.
