SXSW 2023

Empowering Australia’s Indigenous Youth With Purpose

Description:

From birth, the odds are stacked against Indigenous kids in Australia. In a country where First Nations people make up less than 5% of the population, Indigenous youth account for 80% of all 10-year-olds behind bars.

It is with this in mind that Indigenous rapper Nooky recognised the need to create a platform to give the generations something to aspire to, to unlock their own Warrior spirit, and drive positive change.

Join R/GA and Nooky as they discuss the partnership and creation of a brand and platform that help the next generation of Australians to “see it to be it”.

Takeaways

  1. Representation matters. As an industry, we need to put our money where our mouths are.
  2. Building a social cause doesn’t mean brand design needs to take a backseat – it should be a point of focus.
  3. We can all play a part in bringing equity and justice, with the gifts we have been given.
