SXSW 2023
"Yes, NASA is Looking Up"
Description:
Our solar system has eight planets, five dwarf planets, and asteroids. LOTS of asteroids. Some are called Near-Earth Asteroids, or NEAs, because they circulate through the Earth’s orbital neighborhood. More than 29,000 NEAs have been identified. None are a threat to Earth right now, but NASA is watching the skies and preparing for an actual impact scenario. Our panelists include asteroid experts, including top scientists on missions to identify and study asteroids in our cosmic neighborhood, and planetary defenders working on plans to protect Earth from future asteroid threats.
