SXSW 2023
Reinventing Space with Edge Computing
Description:
Once a (relatively) low-tech operation relying heavily on human grit, space exploration is now the pinnacle of technology, an engine of progress for the public and private sectors alike. HPE is one of the organizations leading the charge on that new era in space. Specifically, it has developed and launched the Spaceborne Computer-2 (SBC-2) aboard the International Space Station. Operating in the harshest conditions known to humankind, SBC-2 is dramatically speeding time-to-insight, from months to minutes, fueling innovations in everything from healthcare and 3D printing to improved astronaut safety, using state-of-the art computing and AI. In this session, HPE will elaborate on the technology behind Spaceborne Computer-2, and how it is breaking ground for new capabilities in space.
