Student Voice & Transparency in Special Education

In this workshop, we deep dive the IEP (individual education plan) as it relates to providing special education services throughout the school setting & engaging the whole team in the process. Special education has often been confusing & riddled with negative connotations; we choose to empower students as advocates & highlight strengths so it isn't anymore!
Let's bring transparency to teachers, educate students on their IEPs via student-led IEP meetings, and include parents to make it better.

Share this idea


  1. Participants will be able to understand the IEP document and use it as a foundation for conversations with students & families.
  2. Participants will learn strategies to provide, or advocate for, ways for the whole IEP team to have easy access to student accommodations & goals.
  3. Participants will understand the purpose of student-led IEP meetings and know how to differentiate implementation by age & ability levels.
