SXSW 2021
10 Ideas for Pandemic Design
Description:
The pandemic demands that we rethink the spaces where our lives take place: from our homes to our schools, workplaces, and even our infrastructure. What if architecture and urban design could function as an immune system for communities? We found that many of the questions we were exploring were weighing on our clients. Residential developers wondered how worldwide lockdowns will change the way we define home. An airport authority asked how we could reconfigure terminals to reconcile health and security. Commercial developers sought our ideas on the future of the office. We have developed a series of 10 design strategies to help us adapt to a new reality, support economic recovery, and build more resilient cities—from macro ideas in urban planning to education, healthcare, and the office.
