Esports: How to make money when everything is free
Description:
Esports is one of the fastest-growing forms of digital entertainment but it has yet to grow into a mature industry and few stakeholders are seeing any real monetary returns. This panel features a diverse group of executives with backgrounds in both esports and media, including HBO and Twitch, in a discussion around new and future business models within esports. Drawing on lessons from traditional media, video-on-demand and streaming services they will explore the viability of subscriptions and other platform business models. With consumers having grown accustomed to free content and services, the panelists will offer their own perspectives on what it takes to shift consumer behavior, willingness to pay and grow esports into a more mature industry in 2020 and beyond.
