Grass ceiling: Women in cannabis

Description:

How to stop the “grass” ceiling from forming in a new industry where the women count is decreasing.
According to a new report commissioned by the women-led firm Vangst, the largest staffing company in the marijuana space - after surveying 166 cannabis businesses in 17 states across the United States of America, Vangst found that 38.5 percent of the employees questioned self-identified as females. While this number is higher than other industries such as agriculture, beverage, etc., it still stands below other women-led industries like real estate and education, to name a few.

According to this study by Vangst, only 17.6% of these women in cannabis companies held a “director” or “executive” role. This compares to 82.4% for self-identified males.
