SXSW 2020
Design x Local x Good Business in DR Congo
Description:
In DR Congo, billions of aid dollars have been poured into the country for decades. But most people still don’t have access to clean water. Health facilities are failing. Aid money is determined by big donors. It’s flowing into the same types of projects, expecting different results. The bottom line is that this just isn’t good enough.
Enter Asili, a start-up social enterprise designed by and for Congolese families, that is investing in Congo in a way that works. It offers the kinds of quality services that people actually want, We know that because we’ve asked them – and because they pay for it.
