SXSW 2020
The FUTURE is EQUITABLE
Description:
In 2019, the US ranked 75th in the world for women’s representation in government and it shows. For example, we’re the only developed country without a federal paid leave policy -- a policy which disproportionately limits a woman’s ability to support herself and her family and results in inequity like the pay gap. What if in 2050 the US had equal representation? What would it look like if women had equal access to power, not just in politics but on Wall Street, in Silicon Valley, in Hollywood, and at home? We gather to discuss and envision the radical systemic changes we could make to our current leadership and community models that would be required to support and perpetuate gender equity in the United States in (hopefully) the not too distant future.

- We’re constrained by our reality! We’re so used to our status quo that it’s hard to think of truly Promethean new models of equity.
- Steps for how to make these a reality, looking at lessons from the past and imagining solutions for the future: politically, socially, economically.
