SXSW 2020

Human Enhancement Tech: How, Why & What Next?

Description:

What if you could make yourself smarter, stronger, slower to age? What if you could connect your internet-enabled devices directly to your brain and send and receive messages without having to look at your phone? If you could, would you? If you did, how would it change you? How would it change us? Soon, we may have the choice to enhance ourselves in never-before-imagined ways. While this possibility promises new opportunities for human expression and innovation, it also raises fundamental questions about how we perceive ourselves and how we function as a society. How can we avoid unintended consequences? This talk will discuss a framework for thinking through the difficult questions posed by human enhancement technologies.
